Due to the threat of snow & icy roads, there will be no church services on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010.

Evening service has been canceled so member may attend Jason Joyner’s wake this evening.

There will be no evening service on April 4, 2010, as it is Easter Sunday.

On Easter Sunday, we will be taking up the 30 Pieces of Silver offering in addition to the regular offering.

From Pastor Jim:

Dear Church Family – In light of Mr. Woodrow Jones’ passing and his wake being held tomorrow night at McLaurin’s Funeral Home from 7-9pm, and in accordance with the by-laws of the church, our Wednesday night service is canceled. The Church will be providing flowers, but, and as requested by the family, will not be providing a meal. Brother Woodrow’s family wishes to thank all of the folks at Powhatan for their kindness and their prayers during their time of bereavement.

Again – Wednesday night service is canceled. The church will provide flowers for the funeral, but will not be providing at meal for the family.

Dear Church Family – In light of the poor conditions of the roads this afternoon, and the frigid forecast for tonight and for tomorrow which will not help to improve the road conditions, the Deacons consider it in the best interest of safety to cancel services for tomorrow.

Job 37:5-14

At God’s command amazing things happen, wonderful things that we can’t understand. He commands snow to fall on the earth, and sends torrents of drenching rain. He brings our work to a stop; he shows us what he can do. The wild animals go to their dens. The storm winds come from the south, and the biting cold from the north. The breath of God freezes the waters, and turns them to solid ice. Lightning flashes from the clouds, as they move at God’s will. They do all that God commands, everywhere throughout the world. God sends rain to water the earth; he may send it to punish us, or to show us his favor. Pause a moment, Job, and listen; consider the wonderful things God does.

From Wanda Benson:

We have made a call today not go to Tucker Lake tomorrow. The weather is not going to be good and we didn’t want to get to the Lake and have to leave shortly after we get there. I know everybody was looking forward to going but we will do something else soon. I will keep you posted.

Our Vacation Bible School will begin on Monday, June 15, instead of Sunday night, June 14. We hope to see everyone at the 5:30 pm pre-program dinner or at the 6:10 pm beginning of the program on Monday, June 15, 2009!

There will not be any services Sunday night, March 29. Instead, the Cape Fear Conference/Union Revival Meeting will be held at Johnston Union FWB Church at 6:30 pm.

We will not walk tonight. Our next fitness night will be Thursday at the church!

We have cancelled the swim party and adventure landing trip for Saturday.  Stay safe.

This has been cancelled on Sept 6th.
