Powhatan offers youth classes during our Sunday School program and a Children’s Church program (for grades 3 and under) during our Worship Service on Sunday morning. In addition, we provide youth instruction during our Sunday-night and Wednesday-night services.
Recent Youth activities included:
- AWANA End-of-Year Assessment/Planning Session — June 1 (6 pm)
- Vacation Bible School (VBS) — July 9 through 11.
- Youth Camp (Cragmont) — July 28 through August 2 (Grades 6-12).

We have suspended our regular Sunday Night Bible Study for our AWANA program, from 4 to 6 pm! This will continue each Sunday night through May 25, 2025. |

Powhatan’s Youth ministry is headed by our Youth Pastor, Joe Gotshall. Joe has several years of experience as a Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, Chaplain, and Counselor, and he has a Masters of Divinity in Christian Education.
Joe meets regularly with our advisory Youth Council, consisting of Wanda Benson, Kim Barnes, Ty Lumley, and Cynthia Narron. Together, Joe and the Youth Council are exploring and reviewing comprehensive programs of Christian education for our Youth.
